“Life as a therapist is a life of service in which we daily transcend our personal wishes and turn our gaze toward the needs and growth of the other. We take pleasure not only in the growth of our patient but also in the ripple effect—the salutary influence our patients have upon those whom they touch in life.” ---------- Irvin Yalom

About

Welcome to my professional page, and I appreciate your potential interest in working together. I am a mental health counselor (LMHC), in practice since 2010. I describe my approach as eclectic and client-driven; I am solution-focused and lean towards a CBT style. I have considerable experience with substance use/addictive disorders (LADC1) and mood disorders--particularly depressive disorders, anxiety disorders. I am largely influenced by positive psychology and take a strengths-based approach in my work. Additionally, I have practiced as a yoga teacher since 2016, with an advanced 500-RYT certification. Although I rarely explicitly bring up yogic principles with therapy clients, this background informs my counseling orientation. I believe strongly that we can find healing from suffering through self-love and compassion, physical self-care and joy in movement, mindfulness practices, and radical acceptance. I emphasize the mind-body-spirit connection and I am a firm believer that maintenance of physical health is crucial for emotional wellness and a strong self-esteem. I will consistently be inquiring about physical self-care practices and providing encouragement in this area. With a humanistic approach, I will listen to your goals and help shape and provide direction to manage your current stresses. Although I feel comfortable working with clients to unravel past patterns, and this is naturally part of the work, I am primarily future-focused. I believe this is the approach to become "unstuck." I will end sessions with an emphasis on making concrete positive behavioral changes. We will be developing a treatment plan together, goal setting for each week. I look forward to working with you and helping you develop your wellness plan. --Roles-- MaMHCA Clinical Supervisor-- (will complete program in 2024) Anna Maria College, Adjunct Faculty & Clinical Supervisor, 2014-present AdCare Hospital, Clinical Intern & Education Supervisor, 2012-2023 --Education-- Lesley University '12 MA in Music Therapy & Counseling Psychology College of the Holy Cross '08 BA Music, Mathematics --Licensure-- Licensed Mental Health Counselor, #8949 Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor 1, #21560 Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services Registered Yoga Teacher—500 hours (RYT-500) Yoga Alliance Past licensures: Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT)
